Best New Art Event

Since its inaugural event was held on the last Saturday in June, this neighborhood art crawl has already done a fantastic job of showcasing a diverse array of work from newcomers alongside artists with decades-deep portfolios, and connecting it all to the area’s rich and complex history. Though the galleries are spread out, a shuttle bus runs the loop every half-hour. But if you can walk the route, do it — you’ll get to spend time with the murals that wallpaper the neighborhood, both the newer works by members of the Norf Art Collective and the 2012 piece by James Threalkill and Michael McBride under I-40 that is the highlight of Gateway to Heritage Plaza.
