“Domestic Relations — Momma,” Sam Dunson

With its canvases of unarmed black teenagers and dignified matriarchs surrounded by destruction, Sam Dunson’s _lack History at Rymer Gallery wasn’t an attempt at engaging the audience with a nuanced understanding of some esoteric story — _lack History was pissed off and shouting. The stellar exhibition of Dunson’s paintings showed off his chops as a figurative painter, but also highlighted his understanding of the impact art can have on its audience. LAURA HUTSON
