Best DIY Art Show

There’s something ingenious about the concept of The Crappy Magic Experience, which was on display for more than a month at Seed Space in the Track One building. Instead of curating the art itself, artists David Hellams and David King curated the building blocks of future art: armloads of weird garbage from thrift stores and yard sales, which was then spread into three huge bins with signs asking visitors to make something out of the items, Instagram it, and watch as their art appeared on television. Crappy Magic was truly a DIY art experience — the art didn’t even exist until you made it yourself. The best part? The closing night auction, where some of the best garbage was sold for dozens of dollars. LANCE CONZETT
