There’s a spot on Jefferson Street that harvests the history, culture and community of Nashville’s historically black colleges and universities through art shows, film screenings, ciphers, post-art crawl parties and discussions about social issues. Primarily serving North Nashville, Art History Class Lifestyle Lounge and Gallery is a lighthouse of art and culture. Founder and creative director Thaxton Waters is a historian and artist, and his collection of visual art, first-edition books, records, antiques and HBCU artifacts makes it a haven for history nerds.
