Former Nashvillian Willie Stewart and homeboy Brent Stewart (no relation) teamed up this summer for a pair of shows that premiered at Seed Space in July, then popped up again at Zeitgeist in August. Together, the two exhibitions included video art, a room-sized installation that reminded me of the Unabomber’s shack, and a performance that found the artists sitting in a muscle car in the middle of Zeitgeist Gallery listening to every track on Neil Young’s Zuma. If that sounds hilarious, it was. But it also connected the dots between cinema, video art, theater and rock ’n’ roll, all in a manner that was as moving as it was meta. Don’t cry no tears for this pair. JOE NOLAN
