Best Alternative Theater

Every city should have a fringe festival. Thanks to Actors Bridge Ensemble’s curatorial drive, Nashville’s fringe fest has been going on since 2011, and every year the presentations seem more intellectually challenging and theatrically stimulating. The 2016 installment confronted social justice through dance, threw a Harry Potter party, reworked Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, presented puppet sketch comedy and topped it all off with a gore-tinged all-ladies reading of Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs.
