From a kitchen in Murfreesboro to stages all over this country (and a few others), Those Darlins melted many a face over the course of their decade together. As Nashville’s reputation for possessing an outstanding pluralist rock scene spread, and the tidal wave of “It” washed over our fair city, Jessi Wariner, Nikki Kvarnes, Linwood Regensburg and co-founder Kelley Anderson (who left the band in 2012) remained high on the list of examples of why we were awesome. Between recording three great albums and ripping through kickass live shows, they worked with local organizations like the Southern Girls Rock ’n’ Roll Camp and Showing Up for Racial Justice, and constantly championed other women musicians. The news that they wouldn’t be a band anymore was a sock to the solar plexus, but at least it’s comforting to know that Jessi, Nikki and Linwood all have new projects on the horizon.
