Best Vegan ‘Ice Cream’

Kokos Skoop Shop owners Jerusa van Lith and Sam Brooker have concocted the perfect plant-based “ice cream” using a coconut milk base that is every bit as creamy and refreshing as any milk-based product, and while their menu may be small — there are often fewer than 10 flavors at a time — they still manage to have something for every palate. Rich, deep chocolate, fruity and creamy strawberry (with gooey ribbons of strawberry jam), a refreshing matcha mint. Not a coconut fan? Not a problem. In some flavors the coconut taste shines through, but it’s barely detectable in others thanks to some behind-the-scenes flavor-balancing magic. MEGAN SELING
