One of the sweetest signs of summer is Goo Goo’s annual Summer Chef Series, when the candy shop offers local chefs the opportunity to express themselves via a custom Premium Goo Goo. Each specialty candy cluster is crafted in the confectioner’s sweets shop downtown on Third Avenue South and sold in the shop for a few weeks before giving way to the next chef’s creation. Finally, attendees to the Music City Food + Wine Festival get to vote on their favorite creation, and the people’s-choice winner goes back on sale at the shop after the event. This year, in honor of the fifth year of the friendly competition, Goo Goo shined the spotlight on pastry chefs — including Kayla May of Josephine, Matthew Rice of Pastaria and Megan Williams of Etch and etc. — and the results were spectacular.
