Best Cheap Breakfast (and Campaign Spot)

There was no better symbol for the recent election than Big Al’s Deli in Salemtown, a throwback breakfast spot where candidates courted North Nashville power brokers in a rapidly gentrifying part of town. While proximity played a part, the breakfast kept people coming back, especially the bacon biscuits, which are good enough for all of Nashville to unify behind and cheap enough ($1.75) for even the most meager council campaign. And we’ll gladly support four more years of the fried chicken special at lunch.
