The popular Fatherland breakfast spot is so great that even the most protectionist West Siders are willing to cross the river and wait in nearly interminable lines for a decadent (and incredibly low-priced) selection of French-toast-stuffed pancakes (i.e., French toast in between two platter-sized pancakes) and other just-outside-the-box takes on brunch favorites. Call on a weekend and see if the hot chicken benedict is available: a double portion of waffle topped with a boneless helping of fiery fowl (made by the winner of the 2015 Hot Chicken Festival’s amateur contest), poached egg and a slightly maple hollandaise. So good you’d drive from damn near Pasquo for it.
