If it’s a steam-table lunch-buffet pig-out you’re seeking — typically as reliable and filling a deal as you’ll find — the vegetarian fare at The Woodlands remains tops, followed closely by Bombay Palace and longtime local favorite Sitar (where you might get a Harmony Korine sighting in the bargain). From the menu, however, we’ve been impressed by Taj’s selection of dishes we either haven’t seen elsewhere (such as compulsively eatable Indo-Chinese hakka noodles that are the color and heat of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos) or haven’t seen done as well (a vegetable navratan korma swimming in coconut-curry sauce richer than custard).
