As the neighborhood it anchors rapidly develops and gentrifies, McCabe Pub — with proud blue-collar roots and named for the Metro park and public golf course across the street — has for 32 years remained reassuringly the same. True, founder John Dean passed away in 2012. But his family still owns it, and while the wide-rimmed U-shaped bar welcomes all, it favors regulars. Matriarch Jo Dean’s sour cream coconut Cake maintains its iconic status on the menu, and daughters Katie and Stefanie (two of her four kids) are in charge, helping a fourth generation of McCabe Pub patrons into their high chairs.
