Sept. 6, 2013, might very well go down as the date when Nashville’s craft beer culture officially hit the big time. That’s the day both Black Abbey Brewing Company and Tennessee Brew Works shipped their first products to market, racing to deliver kegs to M.L. Rose, The Filling Station and the Taste of Tennessee Beer Festival. While their taprooms couldn’t be more different, with Black Abbey’s simple and monastic Fellowship Hall nearly the polar opposite of TBW’s modern metal, multi-level platforms and hi-tech brewhouse, both breweries make some fantastically creative beers. And we’re all lucky to have them.
