Best Art-Pop Debut in Nashville 2026: Anana Kaye, Are You There?

It’s hard to imagine a more artful full-length debut than Anana Kaye’s Are You There? It’s a lush, achingly beautiful record featuring 10 atmospheric tracks. With help from her husband, co-writer and guitarist Irakli Gabriel, Kaye makes a serious artistic statement that addresses both war and grief. Natives of the former Soviet republic Georgia, Kaye and Gabriel have personally experienced war and displacement. Kaye’s breathy, seductive vocals wistfully reflect the album’s delicate balance between sadness and resilience. In addition to their original material, the album includes moving interpretations of Leonard Cohen’s “There Is a War” and David Olney’s “Soldier of Misfortune.”
