Most of the time, Hillsboro Villagers enjoy the arboreal beauty of the neighborhood, whose cross streets have names like Cedar, Sweetbriar and Linden. But during a major ice storm, all those trees are a recipe for a powerless disaster zone. Even though boutique hotel The Chloe had been open only for a few weeks when the Iceman cameth, staff drastically cut their room rates and invited all comers (including pets). What ensued was a convivial weeklong party that kept the bar packed and brought the neighborhood together to the point that some people didn’t want to go home when the lights came back on.
