Best Underappreciated Birding Location in Nashville 2026: Moss-Wright Park

“They’re ospreys!” I exclaim in the middle of the walking trail at Moss-Wright Park in Goodlettsville at anyone who slows down enough to seem interested in what I’m looking at through my binoculars. Did you know we have ospreys? I didn’t! But when I noticed a large nest on top of one of the tall light poles at the soccer fields, I took a picture, uploaded it to the Merlin Bird ID app, and then confirmed it with some naturalist friends. The three birds in the nest were ospreys. They’ll fly south for the winter soon, but in the meantime I’ll be out there with my binoculars appreciating these amazing birds of prey.
