Best Record-Breaking Performance
in Nashville 2026: Ja’Kobe Tharp
Less than three years ago, Murfreesboro native Ja’Kobe Tharp was a track and field standout at nearby Rockvale High School. Now he’s a world record holder. Representing Auburn in June at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Tharp broke the 110-meter hurdles world record — previously set in 2012 — with a blazing time of 12.75 seconds. It was the first time a world record had been broken in any event at the NCAA championships since 1976. Get in on the Tharp train early, because he’ll very likely be one of the stars for Team USA in the 2028 Olympics in L.A.
