With Fortnight Sessions, instead of setting up an easel on the grounds at Cheekwood or near Radnor Lake’s sylvan shores, Paul Collins documented gas stations, overpasses, cow herds and other quotidian subjects. Art is often implicated for instigating the development and gentrification that can destroy what is best about a place, but Fortnight Sessions exemplified how art can also be a true witness, a good neighbor — and a reminder of what matters most.
