Tinsley Dempsey has transformed a 1,200-foot stretch of wall on Charlotte Avenue into one of Nashville’s most recognizable pieces of public art — but she didn’t do it alone. With the help of local artists like Brandon Donahue and Julia Martin, Dempsey spearheaded Off the Wall Charlotte, a homegrown project that turned the street into a gallery without cluttering it with corny inspirational phrases and clichéd images. Plus, she involved local sponsors and nonprofits like Room In The Inn and Oasis Center. LAURA HUTSON HUNTER
