Best Exhibit Pairing

Zeitgeist Gallery has had one of its strongest years in recent memory, and that’s largely thanks to this knockout combo by artists and curators Karen Seapker and Vadis Turner. Sentinels and States of Matter brought in work from a dream team of contemporary female artists like Shari Mendelson and Allison Schulnik. The ambitious pairing of sculptures (including one piece from Turner that looked like breast milk spilled across the floor) with Seapker’s monumental canvases had a huge payoff — it created a powerful nexus of female representation. LAURA HUTSON HUNTER
