Best Staycation Activity in Nashville 2026: Nashville Shores
Longtime Nashvillians often bemoan the loss of Nashville theme park Opryland. But did you know there’s an honest-to-God waterpark not far away? Tall waterslides loom over Percy Priest Lake. There are fast slides, tube slides, group slides, a substantial little-kid play area, a lake beach area with an obstacle course, the classic wave pool and lazy river and Dippin’ Dots and funnel cakes. It’s a summertime dream — cold water in the hazy heat. The season pass is one of the best deals of the summer, easily paying for itself within a couple of trips. And Nashville Shores doesn’t forget the pups either: There are dog-friendly days toward the end of each summer season.
Past Best of Nashville wins: Nashville Shores also took Best Place to Swim (2024) and Best Water Attraction (2020, 2019) in the Readers' Poll.
