This isn’t the first time Sam Kopsombut’s fabulous Eighth Avenue restaurant has earned this title, and it likely won’t be the last. In addition to being well-seasoned and delicious, Smiling Elephant’s dishes are always exceptionally fresh and clean-tasting to boot. Highlights include khao kai ra-bert (minced pork, garlic, black pepper and fried egg on rice), pad kee mao (green-bean noodles with kaffir lime leaves, veggies, egg and choice of meat) and the restaurant’s signature pad thai, hands-down the best we’ve ever had.
