Best Ice Cream

I love Jeni’s, especially the salty caramel, but at $10 a pint I feel like I should be eating it with a solid-gold coke spoon. It’s worth the drive out Nolensville way to the sole Nashville area outpost of Bruster’s, a chain we discovered on a Kentucky trip a few years ago. Every flavor I’ve tried is a winner: Even standbys like butter pecan are boosted by first-rate execution — pecans toasted for extra crunch, a custardy base with a true buttery undertone. It’s at 10486 Concord Road, with specials galore; go just for the warm blast of baking-waffle-cone fragrance that greets you at the door.
