Best Nashville Escape

With a quick one-mile hike downhill and then upstream, Cummins Falls State Park (about 90 minutes east of Nashville) is one of the region’s most breathtaking escapes. Visits during warm weather offer open exploration of a gushing waterfall that empties into walkable cascades, ultimately filling a cavernous swimming hole. In cooler weather, you’ll prefer a less hands-on experience, but the views alone — and decreased foot traffic — make a visit worthwhile. Just bundle up. MATT FOX
