Belinda Carlisle was right: Heaven is a place on earth. And it sits out in Mt. Juliet, in the form of the Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary. When local dogs become too old or ill to be adopted, the Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary takes them in, giving the senior pups a home and whatever food and medical care they require. They can snooze the day away on one of the many chairs, beds and couches, or play out in the sunny garden. You can follow their adventures (and fall in love with their sweet old faces) on Facebook. And if you want to meet the pups in person, the sanctuary is open for a limited number of tours every week — for a $10 donation visitors get to pat all the pups and see how the center runs.
