Maybe it’s a bit premature to call the affable Swede (is there any other kind?) the best player on the team. This is, after all, a team that includes one of the world’s best goalies in Pekka Rinne and two of the NHL’s best defensemen in Shea Weber and Roman Josi. But we’ll likely be calling Forsberg the Best Predator for years to come, so there’s no time like the present. And present is the right word, because the dazzling goal-scorer was a gift from the Washington Capitals, who sent Forsberg to Nashville in exchange for the now well-traveled malcontent Martin Erat and barely-above-replacement-level Michael Latta in one of the most lopsided trades in recent memory. The Preds got a young, creative player who loves to shoot and has the ability to score — the type of player the team has largely been without.
