The honky-tonks on Lower Broad have long been a hotbed of duets and collaborations and red-hot jams. But back in April, when Stevie Wonder played Bridgestone Arena and Dave Chappelle played the Ryman on the same night, an unlikely but awesome collab went down at Tootsies: Wonder’s horn section and Chappelle (who’d appeared onstage during Wonder’s Bridgestone set) riffed on A Tribe Called Quest’s phenomenal “Can I Kick It?” And we might have never known about it were it not for local rock ’n’ roller Justin Kalk, who managed to capture the moment on video.
