Prop guillotines, grease paint and corn-syrup blood were par for the course when Alice Cooper opened for Mötley Crüe at Bridgestone Arena last year. But the truly shocking performance came after the show, on the patio stage at Dan McGuinness Irish Pub, where just after the witching hour the (then) 66-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and his band took the stage and cranked out a four-song set of Beatles, Doors, Hendrix and Who covers for a crowd of maybe 100 people lucky enough to get the memo. While “best Mötley Crüe after-party ever” is a bold statement, this might have been the best Mötley Crüe after-party ever. It happened as part of the pub’s recurring Thee Rock N’ Roll Residency series, a weekly classic-hard-rock-covers get-together of Nashville-residing hot-shit hair-metal vets hosted by session pro Phillip Shouse and The Shazam’s Jeremy Asbrock. Other surprise guests this year have included Lzzy Hale, John Corabi and Accept’s Peter Bates.
