Mike “Grimey” Grimes — yes, of Grimey’s New and Preloved Music fame — and his business partner Dave Brown already had a good thing going with their small Eighth Avenue venue The Basement. But they had to go and open a second club, the midsize Basement East on Woodland Street, bringing bigger-than-can-fit-in-The-5-Spot rock shows (not to mention secret and last-minute shows from the likes of Cherub and Cage the Elephant) to the East Side. OK, OK, take our money.
