The original location for Random Sample — the multidisciplinary art space that opened in October 2021 — was a little cinderblock building in West Nashville that quickly became a well-regarded DIY-style backdrop for installations, performances, book clubs, and music and literary events. They upgraded this year to a larger space just around the corner, with a gallery entryway, underground performance room, and whisperings of a future artist residency space upstairs. It’s rare when Old Nashville energy isn’t nostalgia but is actually alive and well, and it’s clear the Random Sample team has cracked the tap.
