When painter John Paul Kesling opened Dear John at The Bankers Alley Hotel in February, the prolific artist delivered large and small multimedia works, including surreal narratives, emotive portraits and pure abstraction. The show also acted as a goodbye message to Nashville’s art community — the artist has now relocated back to his Kentucky hometown. Dear John was yet another strong showing by Kesling, an artist who so thoroughly ingratiated himself to Nashville’s creative community that it wasn’t uncommon to see his work hanging in multiple locations during local gallery crawl events. Dear John: Thanks.
