OK, it may still feel like summer out there, but according to the calendar — and the good folks at Cheekwood — autumn has officially arrived. You can celebrate the new season with Cheekwood Harvest now through Nov. 1. This year’s festival promises a wide range of family-friendly activities, including the ever-popular Pumpkin Village (featuring 100,000 locally sourced pumpkins) and the Scarecrow Trail (with a slew of sweet storybook-themed scarecrows). Plus, Harvest Nights return on Thursday evenings, inviting guests to stroll the grounds while enjoying live music, food trucks, cocktails and a host of seasonal fun. New this year is the gorgeous Marigold River — a vibrant display of more than 2,500 orange, red and yellow blooms lining the walkway from the Bradford Robertson Color Garden to Arboretum Lawn. It’s a festive display that’s sure to put you in the mood for fall. And while you’re there, be sure to check out the 12th annual Japanese Moon Viewing (Sept. 27) or one of the many seasonal gardening or botanical classes available.
