The spirit of the comic con has evolved from a haven for niche demographics into a catchall for almost everything under the entertainment umbrella. It’s a celebration of fandom, and whether that comes by way of childlike fascination or Brony jumpsuits, it’s a phenomenon that people are grasping en masse. As the con’s breadth expands, Geek Media Expo remains Middle Tennessee’s most consistent authority on all things pop culture. And having wrapped its eighth year, GMX continues to set that bar with no signs of slowing. GMX consistently trumps larger cons on numerous planes, including robust offerings in maker technology, tabletop gaming and a room dedicated to classic arcade cabinets set to free play. National touring cons will always cast a shadow on our smaller gatherings, but when they skip over Nashville with sights on larger cities, we can always trust GMX to keep the lights on for pop culture enthusiasts across the region.
