Third Man Records has the influence and appeal to attract just about any living artist you can imagine, but they chose Tim Kerr, a punk-rooted Texan, to exhibit in their first gallery show. It was a smart move: Kerr’s paintings of obscure jazz musicians and political activists mix elements of skate and graffiti art with visionary sensibilities — and with refreshingly unpretentious price tags to match.
