Nashville-based comedian Will Abeles is recording his next album at Love & Exile on Friday night in a fittingly Music City way — straight to vinyl with the help of a team of local audio engineers and videographers, a decision that would make fellow Northern transplant Jack White proud. Abeles’ previous special, The Pride of Hagerstown, features plenty of material about how the longtime New Yorker adjusted to his adopted hometown in the South after moving to Nashville in 2021. The performance on Friday will also mark more than a year of sobriety for Abeles, something he tells the Scene is “probably my biggest accomplishment since moving to Nashville.” Fellow local comedian Corey Perry will open the show with a recorded set of his own.
