The finest way to crown a day at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival is to revel in the music of Castle Rat. The Brooklyn-based medieval fantasy metal band is on a mission to expand and defend The Realm from those who seek to destroy it. Led by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Riley Pinkerton (aka The Rat Queen) donning a chainmail bikini, the band faces the relentless wrath of their arch-nemesis, The Rat Reaperess. Part of the 2026 Amonklok Conquest Tour, Castle Rat will open for Swedish viking metal band Amon Amarth and death metal group Dethklok. The latter — whom you might know as the band from Adult Swim’s animated show Metalocalypse, created and helmed in real life by Brendon Small — will close out the night with a video-heavy 20th-anniversary set. If you cast your dice well, you can zip straight from the Williamson County Ren fair to this theatrical spectacle without a costume change. Godspeed.
