Cool-Hand-Luke-web

Shoutout to Paul Newman for being the only man on record to stay hot for his entire life. In 1967, Newman was at the peak of his antihero streak when he played Luke, a spirited convict serving time on a Florida chain gang. Cool Hand Luke has some of the most famous lines and scenes in cinema, including Luke eating 50 hard-boiled eggs on a bet as well as “What we’ve got here is failure to communicate.” As the only prisoner with enough guts to talk back to the bosses and the only one with enough nerve to escape, the titular rebel was beloved by audiences — not to mention supporting characters played by George Kennedy (who won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar), Dennis Hopper and Harry Dean Stanton. Newman’s inherent likability as an actor was a major part of the character’s beloved stature. Luke is a cool hand, see. And he’s also, like, sweating the entire movie. It’s an immortal hotness.
