For many of us in Nashville, evening is one of the few times it actually sounds fun to do something outside during the summer. Madison venue Harken Hall is taking advantage with its bimonthly Garden Concert Series, held in their greenery-adorned outdoor space. The shows are on Sundays, aimed at easing you back into the work week, with $10 advance tickets ($15 day-of) to catch some strong local talent. Coming up this week is Luella, a vocalist and songsmith who’s been a part of East Nashville’s musical fabric for decades and who’s adept at finding what’s really interesting in the spaces between well-defined genres, with a tendency toward the spooky and sublime (especially in the bluesy part of the spectrum). She’s been at work on new music with longtime collaborators including Joe V. McMahan and Wes Langlois, some of which you can expect to get a taste of during her set. Langlois and Johnny Duke are set to play guitar, along with bassist Michael Majett and drummer Wes Little. It’s also birthday weekend for her beloved dog Leo Bonito, so there’s a good chance of a shoutout to him, too.
