America the Beautiful: National Parks & Landmarks by Rail

When it comes to summertime attractions in Nashville, strolling the gardens and exhibits at Cheekwood with your beverage of choice is always a good option. This summer’s must-see showcase is America the Beautiful: National Parks & Landmarks by Rail, a model train exhibition featuring more than 850 feet of track and 25 national landmarks, with 10 trains weaving throughout Cheekwood’s Color Garden. The landmarks were handcrafted from natural materials by Northern Kentucky-based artists Applied Imagination, the same designers who created Cheekwood’s permanent TRAINS! display. The 25 landmarks include iconic structures like the Golden Gate Bridge (a true standout in the exhibit) and the Statue of Liberty, and lesser-known locations like the John Muir House. There’s even a Volunteer State section featuring beautiful renditions of the Ryman, Graceland and a trio of East Tennessee stops: Cable Mill, John Oliver Cabin and Little Greenbrier School. Visit cheekwood.org for hours and ticketing information.
