Maryam Abolfazli
Founded by Maryam Abolfazli and several parents after the lack of action from leaders in the wake of the Covenant School shooting, Rise and Shine Tennessee came together quickly to organize around building civic engagement. In just a few months, this group has worked diligently to inform parents and build a strong coalition, and they’re determined to keep the conversation, and action, going. The nonprofit volunteer effort provided much-needed visibility to the demand from parents for sensible gun laws in Tennessee. Here’s to continuing the fight.
