This summer, with funds donated by the Patton family, the Nashville Zoo opened a brand-new enclosure for the facility’s Komodo dragons. It’s a particularly fitting home for the Komodos — the largest lizards in the world — as it’s the biggest enclosure of its kind in the Americas. With fewer than 1,400 of these spectacular, scaly, cold-blooded predators remaining in the wild, the conservation efforts of the zoo, which partnered with the Komodo Survival Program through the Species Survival Plan, are beyond admirable. Plus, Nashvillians now have a special new spot to lay eyes on the zoo’s big lizards — including superstar Lil Sebastian, a 9-foot, 200-pound Komodo.
