The Wallflowers’ current tour, which makes a stop at Brooklyn Bowl Friday night, celebrates the 30th anniversary of their 1996 album Bringing Down the Horse. The band will perform the album in its entirety, in sequence. They also will perform Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ 1982 album Long After Dark in its entirety. “We wanted to do something special for the 30th anniversary of Bringing Down the Horse,” bandleader Jakob Dylan explains. “We decided to play what seems to be our fans’ favorite Wallflowers album, and for us, we wanted to play one of our favorite Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers records.” Bringing Down the Horse sold more than 4 million copies worldwide and earned the group a pair of Grammys — Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group and Best Rock Song for “One Headlight.” “One Headlight” was named the greatest adult alternative song of all time in 2021 by Billboard. The band’s current lineup is Dylan (lead vocals, rhythm and lead guitars), Chris Masterson (guitars, backing vocals), Ben Peeler (guitars, backing vocals), Whynot Jansveld (bass, backing vocals), Aaron Embry (keyboards, backing vocals) and Mark Stepro (drums, backing vocals). Singer-songwriter Early James will open the show.
