Once you’ve had your fill of all the standard Fourth of July festivities, you can count on Sid Gold’s Request Room for some real fun and vocal fireworks. As Nashville’s only live piano karaoke bar, Sid’s is serving up craft cocktails and big splashy sing-alongs six nights a week. This week’s lineup includes everything from a delightful Drunken Disney show to a fab burlesque night hosted by Viola Vainglory, and even a BYO Vinyl night with Jude Mason (of WNXP) and Soccer Moses. But my favorite has to be Show Tunes at Sid’s, hosted by Nashville theater favorite Megan Murphy Chambers every Monday. Accompanied by the marvelous Jamey Green on piano, MMC leads a raucous (and often full-house) crowd in a celebration of all things Broadway. Having recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, this dazzling crew shows no signs of slowing down. And whether you’re looking for a way to recuperate from the holiday weekend or just meet up with some Broadway-loving pals, Show Tunes at Sid’s just may be the best two hours you spend all week.
