Hayley-Williams

Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams launched her first solo tour at the end of March in support of her third solo album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The tour will make an extended stop in her home area with three dates at the Ryman this week. Williams initially released the material from the album as stand-alone tracks in the summer before releasing the full album at the end of August to critical acclaim. Musically, the record leans more pop than her work with Paramore. Lyrically, she pulls no punches, taking aim at a variety of targets, including herself. On the title track, she takes a shot at Lower Broadway, declaring, “I’ll be the biggest star at this racist country singer’s bar.” Attendees at the Ryman shows will hear Williams perform all 20 songs from Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, plus an abbreviated interpretation of Nina Simone’s “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.” Thus far, she has been joined by special guests at a majority of the shows — including Annie DiRusso at the second of her three performances in New York and Jason Isbell at the third — so chances are high there will be some special guests at her Nashville dates. Brooklyn-based experimental indie-pop duo Water From Your Eyes will open each show.

April 25, 27 & 28 at the Ryman
