Celebrating its 13th anniversary, Independent Bookstore Day falls on the last Saturday of April, and showcases the best in independent bookstores across the country. Nashville gets a special treat this year with the launch of the Middle Tennessee Indie Bookstore Crawl, which will highlight the best of the area’s independent bookstores, including crawl spots in Nashville, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Hendersonville and Franklin. To participate, stop by as many participating locations as you can, fill out the passport they’ve created and submit it for a chance to win a grand prize. In East Nashville, you can check out The Bookshop, Novelette Booksellers, East Nashville Books, Fairytales Bookstore, Shook About Books, Slow Burn and Shadowed Pages Bookshop, the last of which will pop up at Surefire Coffee. Mobile bookstore Sugar and Spice Book Co. will be in The Gulch at Killebrew Coffee. Parnassus Books, Duckbill Bookshop, and Taylor Street Art and Books are also participating. Each of the bookstores on the crawl will have its own special-edition releases, giveaways and author signings.
