With streaming services becoming more costly and less enjoyable by the day, physical media is arguably more important now than ever before. Luckily for us, there’s a great movie community in Nashville that is about to get even stronger with the opening of Press Play Video. The mobile walk-in video store is focusing not just on bringing the movies to you, but also on creating the kind of vibe and relationships that made shops like Blockbuster essential for so long. The goal, in addition to buying copies of your favorite movies, is to make connections and discover new films. “Enjoy the browse,” as owner-founder Joe Bass puts it. “Come in, take your time, check things out and chat with the guy behind the counter.” The Blu-ray- and 4K-focused shop (with a wide selection from specialty labels like Criterion and Arrow) will kick off its opening tour on Saturday with a stop at Crazy Gnome Brewery from 2 to 7 p.m. Upcoming stops include the Belcourt, East Nashville Beer Works, Mott Cha Market and Bearded Iris Brewing.
2 p.m. at Crazy Gnome Brewery
