The Linda Lindas’ 2026 album Gotta Get Out hits like prime pop-punk, which means the melodies often sound like they were cribbed from the collective unconscious. The Los Angeles band is composed of sisters Lucia and Mila de la Garza and their cousin, Eloise Wong, along with family friend Bela Salazar, and they made a splash in 2021 when the video for their song “Racist, Sexist Boy” went viral. Now signed to Reprise/Warner Records, The Linda Lindas sound confident on Gotta Get Out, their third full-length. The record’s “Burning Out” and “Nothing Left” kick in like Blondie or any number of circa-1980 New Wave bands. The production, by Carlos de la Garza (who is the father of the band’s Lucia and Mila de la Garza), folds in synths and artful distortion. You might hear echoes of the Franklin pop-punk group Paramore throughout the record, and that’s understandable: Carlos de la Garza produced Paramore’s 2023 full-length This Is Why. In addition, Paramore singer Hayley Williams guests on the Gotta Get Out track “Closer,” which sounds like prime emo-pop. Also on the bill Monday at The Basement East is Grace Bowers, a young Nashville guitar phenom whose latest work leans into punk and modern rock.
