If you’ve noticed the excessive amount of games stacked along Bongo Java East’s walls, then you’ve seen Game Point. The city’s largest source of board games is tucked inside the Five Points coffee shop and maintained by Rick Keuler, whom you might recognize as the brains behind Tennessee Game Days. Keuler’s annual conference has promoted board gaming for more than a decade, hosting hundreds of regional gamers. Teaming with Bongo Java for Game Point, he’s funneled the community spirit of TGD into a year-round board-game mecca. The coffee shop’s copious shelving houses Game Point’s arsenal of 380-plus titles, which range from classic to cult favorites. In the evening, Game Point provides on-site game coaches, local experts eager to assist first-time players with any game from the cafe’s expansive selection. Each game is also marked with stickers that designate skill and style, so feel free to take a stab at an unfamiliar title even when the experts aren’t on duty at the cafe. MATT FOX
