Sure, you could work up a sweat by pretending to ride a bike over mountains while blasting Run-D.M.C. or whatever. Or you could do it the smart way, by sitting naked and alone in a dark room without having to move a muscle. The full-spectrum infrared saunas at Belle Meade’s Pure Sweat + Float supposedly pack a beneficial punch — some claim they aid in detoxification, lower blood pressure, provide pain relief and encourage weight loss — but I’m in it for the uninterrupted Netflix. Each personal sauna room is equipped with a tablet that allows you to stream your favorite shows or listen to music via Pandora while you bake. I can’t say whether or not the occasional sauna session has lowered my blood pressure or helped me make up for the literal tons of cake I’ve eaten over the years, but I do know that I feel both rejuvenated and relaxed after spending 40 minutes in a 145-degree box watching Bob’s Burgers and ignoring the rest of the world.
